Amendment 5

Missouri does not have a Show-Me Prosperity Fund today. This would create one in the state treasury. The Legislature could put money into it, and the state treasurer would invest that money. The money could later help replace state taxes, but only after the fund grows enough to cover them.

If Yes wins
A yes vote means Missouri would create the Show-Me Prosperity Fund and allow it to be built up for possible use in replacing state taxes.
If No wins
A no vote means the state would not create the Show-Me Prosperity Fund.

Amendment 6

Today, county sheriff rules can differ across Missouri. This amendment would require each county to elect a sheriff for a four-year term. It would also make the sheriff the county's chief law enforcement officer and limit how a sheriff can be removed.

If Yes wins
A yes vote means every county would have to elect a sheriff for a four-year term, with the duties and protections stated in the amendment.
If No wins
A no vote means this change to county sheriffs would not take effect.

Amendment 6

People in Missouri can already use petitions to propose laws and constitutional changes. This proposal would call those petition rights fundamental rights and set limits on laws that affect them. It would also require an 80% vote in each legislative chamber before lawmakers could send voters a change to a voter-approved initiative.

If Yes wins
A yes vote means the constitution would add these protections and restrictions for initiative and referendum rights.
If No wins
A no vote means the current constitutional rules for initiatives and referendums would remain unchanged by this proposal.
