The City of Cape Girardeau is inviting residents to take part in the Riverfront Fall Festival Scarecrow Stroll in downtown Cape Girardeau, according to an Oct. 16 city announcement.

The city said local businesses are creating scarecrows for the stroll. Visitors can walk downtown, look for the displays and take photos, the announcement said.

Businesses that want to enter the judging must post a photo of their scarecrow in the Riverfront Fall Festival Facebook thread by Oct. 18, according to the city. The city said businesses should tag their business and @VisitCape in the post.

Judging is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, and first-, second- and third-place awards are available, the announcement said. It did not provide event hours or a cost to participate.

The city directed businesses and residents to the Riverfront Fall Festival Facebook page to follow the event and upload photos, and to visitcape.com to connect.
